Our production

Welcome to our production facilities at our headquarters in Erkheim in the Allgäu region of Southern Germany. Our team of qualified specialists work hand-in-hand to ensure that everything runs smoothly. On an area the size of two-and-a-half football pitches, four to five Baufritz houses are created every week. Depending on its complexity, it takes two to four days to prefabricate a complete Baufritz house. German precision engineering, outstanding craftsmanship and manufacturing expertise in perfect harmony.

Naturally PU foam-free

We install windows and doors in our houses without the use of PU foams – that goes without saying. Of course, that presents challenges and demands a high degree of craftsmanship. But it’s the only way to build a house that is healthy to live in. Because it is a well-known fact that when PU foam hardens, it releases large quantities of isocyanates, which are suspected of causing cancer. That’s why our unique design allows a snug fit that is 100% airtight without the use of PU foam. You have our word!

Precision made to fit

Your new Baufritz home is prefabricated off-site in our state-of-the-art factory in Germany. And because it is sheltered from the elements, it can be made exactly to schedule. The windows, stairs and outer doors are also pre-installed off-site with millimetre precision and expert craftsmanship. The complete wall modules are then delivered to your building site, where they are assembled quickly, precisely and reliably by our specialised teams on-site. Even the sanitary installations and pipes are partly pre-installed in the factory. All with the exceptional quality you expect from a Baufritz house.

The world's best insulation material

We insulate our walls using our own ecological insulation material. Made with wood shavings, “HOIZ” is the world’s first sustainable ecological insulation. It has been certified with the Cradle-to-Cradle Gold standard and awarded the IBN quality seal. This innovative and healthy insulation material is the resource-saving alternative to solid timber and is made with wood sourced from local forests. Thanks to our unique, natural whey-and-soda impregnation, it meets the highest standards in terms of fire, flame, fungal and pest protection.

Built under the very best conditions

The conditions in our production facilities are ideal for building healthy homes, such as yours. Our heated halls protect our workforce and our materials from the wind and rain. The air humidity and lighting are perfect for machining precision timber parts. Modern filter systems guarantee clean air for the people who work here. Why not come and see for yourself. We produce our own electricity

We have been producing our own natural energy since 2005 using large photovoltaic units on the roofs of our Baufritz production halls and sampling centre. At the moment, we generate some 530,000 kwh per year, or roughly 40% of our current energy requirements. The rest is covered by natural electricity sourced from certified providers. That means our entire production process is powered by electricity generated naturally and in-house.

Impressions

Each individual Baufritz home is prefabricated in our production facilities at our headquarters in Erkheim in Southern Germany. Qualified specialists manufacture your bespoke home with precision craftsmanship and great attention to detail. The wall elements are built completely in-house based on the principles of lean production, without the need for long transport routes. The raw materials are brought by rail directly to the point where they are processed. Special components can be easily and flexibly added to or taken off the main production line. This ingenious system covers the entire production process, from pre-cutting the parts to carefully packaging the finished components for further transport.
